This
project consisted of the replacement of an existing
high energy liner accelerator at this Newport Beach
Cancer Center. Varian Medical System was selected to
provide the new Linear Accelerator. In addition to the
equipment replacement our task was to completely remodel
the procedure room and adjacent control room in an effort
to make it more functionally efficient and also to create
an environment less threatening to the patients being
treated. The extensive cabinetry was completely redesigned
to accommodate the specialized needs of the new equipment
and to improve staff efficiency. In order to create
a less institutional feeling all finish materials were
replaced with finishes and details of a more residential
appearance. The existing ceiling was replaced with a
vaulted ceiling concealed with cove lighting to reduce
the institutional appearance of most procedure rooms.
